The NFL’s collectively bargained rules call for a lengthy acclimation period that begins with three days of no contact. Watson’s status continues to cloud everything in a camp that’s off to a crawling start, both by rule and by design. The NFL is reportedly seeking an indefinite suspension of at least a year. Watson is facing a potential suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy after 24 women filed lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct during massage appointments (20 of which were settled last month), and the Browns await a final ruling from former federal judge Sue L. There has been no ruling following Watson’s three-day disciplinary hearing in late June. The Browns are counting on the speedy Schwartz to take a big leap in his second NFL season, and once things ramp up in camp, the team hopes it will have close to a full complement of receivers for quarterback Deshaun Watson - or possibly backup Jacoby Brissett should Watson be suspended. A team trainer quickly arrived at Schwartz’s side, and the wideout walked off on his own, first to the sideline for further examination, then into the fieldhouse. Schwartz was running a route in individual drills when he pulled up and grabbed at his leg. Later Thursday afternoon, the team said Schwartz suffered a knee injury that will require further evaluation. Second-year wide receiver Anthony Schwartz limped off the field about 35 minutes into a non-contact workout of a little over an hour.
